From the album “Tommy”.
Written by Pete Townshend.

Captain Walker
Didn’t come home
His unborn child,
Will never know him
Believe him missing
With a number of men
Don’t expect

  1. Thanks so much for this. I have goosebumps. This came out when I was right around 12 or 13. I cannot Thank You enough.

  2. The Summer of 1969, Lewis River snow capped Mt Adams and Overture on the Lewis River Marina. Class of 1973 Portland Oregon

  3. I entered junior high school (7th grade) in 1970. My English teacher was named Robert Silbering. Instead of having the students read some classic piece of literature, he had us analyze Tommy instead, which had only recently been released. We listened to portions in class. I purchased the album. It was my first rock album. I will never forget how Mr. Silbering helped shape my taste in music!

  4. In 1975 I listened to two most influential albums. This and Sgt Peppers. I was ten at the time and have never been the same! (BTW this is better…than Sgt)

  5. If I could I would take the girl I love to a live performance of Tommy with The Who playing the music in front of the stage as we stood and danced.
