Sinful Love – Blue Oyster Cult (1976) Remaster HD Video

[Video #138] from the address for MetalGuruMessiah’s Musical Paint Box! Check out my other videos!

“Sinful Love” was released on Blue Oyster Cult’s fourth studio album, Agents Of Fortune, in the spring of 1976. This record was released in a banner year for rock n roll and while we were all listening to Boston, Frampton Comes Alive, Rocks, Jailbreak, Leftoverature, 2112 and the other greats constantly, when one of those was playing and coming towards the end and we’d all chime in with our suggestions for next up….I’d always be the one lobbying for Agents Of Fortune, you know, the standard utterance of millions of rock fans through the decades….”dude, put on/ in xxxxx”! 😉 Many of my friends liked it, especially of course “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper”, but their interest seemed to decline more sharply for the deeper album tracks on this album than for those of other artists. Blue Oyster Cult could be one of the most blisteringly heavy bands one moment, shimmering metal mid-tempo rock and strangely moving and unique ballads the next….they were always an extremely powerful act and the only thing I can attribute to them not being even more popular than they were was their penchant for decidedly strange, deep and literate lyrics (all of which are of course primary reasons they have always maintained a dedicated fan base!).

The MFSL remaster from which the audio track for this was sourced offers amazing sonic improvements over the original CD release (to my ears at least though others may disagree). I also have the original SACD from 10 years ago and though I usually prefer that source for home listening, the MFSL version is equally fine for 2-channel….besides wasn’t about to ripping and converting when it’ll ultimately end up a compressed mp3…did that once for “Ripples” knowing of course it was kinda pointless!)

Huge news for Blue Oyster Cult fans! If you’re like me, this is an absolute must buy!

This is my 6th video for a BOC tune, and the 2nd for a track from Agents Of Fortune. Both of the vids I’ve finished for songs from this album spun off of the first video I’d been working on (still unfinished!) “Morning Final”. I’m hoping to clean off some of the unfinished BOC efforts along with the Catherine Wheel group, and this is the first result of that effort……snakes and Frazetta cranked to 11! This video was a hassle to finish (and I very nearly skipped it) after I previewed it and realized way into it that I’d improperly rendered some of the snake effects in After Effects and then couldn’t get them back the way I originally had them. I ended up getting some back but jettisoned the others (mostly some pretty cool snake mirror effects…just ended up with the one) that I just couldn’t face the tedious/time-consuming re-render for…a drag because I’d spent more time than necessary creating the effects so I could use them in another vid…so anyway, Hope you enjoy!

Special thanks to:
The always amazing art of Frank Frazetta! Check the Frank Frazetta Online Museum for more of this master artists work!

& of course….
EVERYONE ELSE WHO’S ART helped create new art!
THANKS!!!

[Lyrics]
You’re over my shoulder, I think I’m possessed
Your constant undertone, is making me toothless
Times come to trim you, gonna get out my knife
Gonna cut you out, baby, out of my life

Dare-devil, she-devil, printer’s-devil, evil
I love you like sin, but I won’t be your pigeon
Dare-devil, she-devil, printer’s-devil, evil
I love you like sin, but I won’t be your pigeon

The power that I give you, I’m so sick of your voice
In my body, You don’t give me no choice
But to boot you, honey, to give you the shove
So take back your despot, I’ll keep the glove

Dare-devil, she-devil, printer’s-devil, evil
I love you like sin, but I won’t be your pigeon
Dare-devil, she-devil, printer’s-devil, evil
I love you like sin, but I won’t be your pigeon

I’m searching by symbols, looking for a pistol
To laser you out, it looks like a keyhole
I’ll just stick my key back, seamless and whole
No more idols, got my own self control

Dare-devil, she-devil, printer’s-devil, evil
I love you like sin, but I won’t be your pigeon
Dare-devil, she-devil, printer’s-devil, evil
I love you like sin, but I won’t be your pigeon
Dare-devil, she-devil, printer’s-devil, evil
I, I, I love you like sinful love
Dare-devil, she-devil, printer’s-devil, evil
I, I love you like sinful love
Dare-devil, she-devil, printer’s-devil, evil
I love you like sinful love
Dare-devil, she-devil, printer’s-devil, evil
I love you like sinful love
Dare-devil, she-devil, printer’s-devil, evil
I love you, I love you like a sinful love
Dare-devil, she-devil, printer’s-devil, evil
I, I love you like sinful love… (fade) Sinful Love – Blue Oyster Cult (1976) Remaster HD Video

  1. Blue Oyster Cult work well with this style of animation. Also, I like the classical art elements.
By the way, my video Mona Lisa–Da Vinci's Use of Sacred Geometry just broke a million this past week. Who could imagine?

  2. Thanks, John for the visit! Glad you enjoyed! Yeah, BOC is just a very easy band for me to work with…..I have so many of their tunes in progress, from conceptualization up through nearly completed. I have been so anxious to complete some of my art movement/themed projects, as I also love classic art.

Huge congratulations on your milestone! Going over to watch it now…and yeah, you have an incredible selection of uploads…gotta spend more time over there!

    Take care!

  3. Yer reading my mind, brother! Two days ago I was listening to tracks from Love to try and pick a track to start on, so hard to choose, 3 albums of sheer brilliance….I'm a huge fan! Arthur Lee is me what Jimi is to many others, such a hugely influential band….in an perfect world they would have been huge!

"Alone Again Or" is a great track but I'm not getting any concept, think I'd like to try "Maybe The People…." or "Signed D.C.", but yeah John a great tune and a great band!

    Thanks!!!

  4. For "Alone Again Or" take a look at the scene in "Taking Woodstock" –only for inspiration. The filmaker captured the visual melting of the moment, if you know what I mean. Other suggestions: Between Clark and Hildale", "The Good Humor Man", Andmoreagain" –same kind of flow, swirl and melting

  5. Thanks J……yer comments are very much appreciated! For some reason BOC songs are by far the easiest for me to work with….I don't really know why, but their vid efforts are always so smooth and (relatively) pain-free.

  6. So cool to know you and your friends were playing this maybe at the EXACT same time me and mine were 35 years ago!!! Trans-Am? Camaro? Mustang? Monte Carlo? LOL! Wow….what great cars we had to go with our great music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. I'd love to write a set of lyrics which answer this song from a female point of view
the only thing that i need to know is: what is the opposite of a she devil ….?
or can I subsitute Incubus for she devil?

  8. Whoa! i loved that song on vinyl, the CD blew me away! but this remaster leaves me speechless,i had to play it like 5 times in a row! co written by Patti Smith and Albert Bouchard (whose drumming will never be equaled) Buck Dharma on lead guitar! This is vintage BOC! messiah you outdid yourself with the graphics!

  9. Hi. I never do this but I read several comments I would like to correct if I may. Albert Bouchard certainly did cowrite and sing this song and Patti Smith did indeed pen songs recorded by BÖC such as the title track to Fire Of unknown Origin which is a poem she wrote. Vera Gemini (to which she lended the intro vocal) and Debbie Denise on Agents of Fortune. However this song was written by Helen Robbins as was Tattoo Vampire. Helen was romantically involved with Albert for a time, used the name Helen Wheels, and had a rock band in NYC of the same name. RIP Helen Wheels. Im pretty sure these are correct facts and I hope they helped. Thank you.
